The original motorcycle, introduced in 1903, was equipped with a 2-horsepower vertical engine of approximately 239&8239;cc, mounted within the frame. It used a Longuemare spray carburettor and a leather belt drive. With a weight of about 40&8239;kg, it could reach speeds of up to 50&8239;km/h. For its time, this was a technically advanced and practical vehicle, and it played a role in the early development of motorcycling in France.
